APAC Mississippi/Tennessee Receives Five NAPA Quality in Construction Awards for 2024

The National Asphalt Pavement Association has recognized APAC Mississippi/Tennessee with five awards for excellence in construction of asphalt pavement in 2024.

Earlier this month, The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) awarded APAC-Mississippi/Tennessee five Quality in Construction Awards for excellence in construction of asphalt pavement. The company was recognized during NAPA’s 70th Annual Meeting on February 3, 2025, at the Grand Wailea Maui in Hawaii.

“The asphalt pavement industry is committed to building high-quality projects that deliver superior performance to the traveling public. All contractors’ projects earning a Quality in Construction award are measured against best practices and designed to live up to that commitment,” said 2024 NAPA Chair Brady Meldrem. “Earning the Quality in Construction Award demonstrates that APAC-Mississippi/Tennessee has met or exceeded these rigorous standards.”

APAC-Mississippi/Tennessee won its 2024 Quality in Construction Awards for five different projects. One was for producing a smooth, high-quality asphalt surface on approximately seven miles of SR 1 in Issaquena County, Mississippi. The job included milling of the road, multiple base repairs and placement of a single 1.5-inch surface course of Superpave asphalt mix.

APAC-Mississippi/Tennessee’s work on I-55 just north of SR 17 to the Carrol County Line in Holmes County near Durant, Mississippi garnered a NAPA Quality in Construction Award as well. After milling then placing an asphalt overlay on approximately 22 miles of interstate, crews repaired and paved the shoulders and ramps. APAC incorporated reclaimed asphalt pavement into the asphalt mixes, a sustainable paving practice that conserves natural resources, cuts emissions, reduces landfill waste and improves pavement longevity.

APAC-Mississippi/Tennessee also won an award for its work on US 45 in Alcorn County south of Corinth, Mississippi. By placing a 1.5-inch Superpave asphalt mix overlay on the existing pavement, the company created a smooth ride on this four-lane divided highway with numerous crossovers, intersections and multiple grade ties.

Another award-winning project encompassed approximately 12 miles of US 49 south of Ruleville in Sunflower County, Mississippi. APAC-Mississippi/Tennessee completed the job with 1.5-inch and variable depth milling, followed by a 1.5-inch overlay of Superpave asphalt mixture. The result was a high-quality asphalt roadway, that earned a “smoothness incentive” for a 68 percent improvement in the road’s ride quality.

NAPA also gave APAC-Mississippi/Tennessee a Quality in Construction Award for its work on US 84 in Jefferson Davis County, Mississippi, beginning at the Lawrence County line and extending to the Covington County line. The project included a 1.5-inch overlay of the existing pavement with a single course of Superpave asphalt mix. APAC-Mississippi/Tennessee’s work created a smooth, high-quality pavement for this four-lane divided highway and improved the quality of the road’s ride by 65 percent.

APAC-Mississippi/Tennessee is proud of its team for their commitment to operational excellence and safety, and for their success in delivering innovative construction solutions and high-quality results for APAC’s valued clients.
