After more than five decades of dedication, hard work, and leadership, APAC Mississippi/Tennessee proudly celebrates the retirement of Willie Ray Davis following an incredible 57-year career in the construction industry.
Willie Ray began his career on April 30, 1969, starting as a laborer and air handler. In those early years, he quickly learned multiple trades, including pipe laying and curb and gutter work by hand — skills that helped lay the foundation for a lifelong career built on determination and craftsmanship.
A few years later, Willie Ray transitioned into asphalt operations, working on a project along Highway 20 in Bolton. There, he served as an asphalt laborer and rake man before eventually operating a paver for several years. His willingness to learn every aspect of the job and his strong work ethic earned the respect of coworkers and leadership alike.
By 1974, Willie Ray had advanced into a Foreman role, beginning a leadership journey that would continue for the remainder of his career. Over the decades, he served as both Foreman and Superintendent, helping guide crews, mentor employees, and contribute to countless projects across the region.
Throughout his 57 years with APAC MS/TN, Willie Ray witnessed tremendous changes in the industry — from evolving equipment and technology to the growth of the communities served by our company. Through it all, his commitment to quality work, safety, and teamwork never wavered.
Willie Ray’s retirement celebration was held on April 30, where family members, friends, and employees who worked alongside him throughout the years gathered to honor his remarkable career and lasting impact.
A career spanning 57 years is more than a milestone. It is a legacy. Willie Ray Davis leaves behind a lasting example of dedication, leadership, and pride in workmanship that will continue to inspire future generations at APAC MS/TN.
