APAC-Mississippi/Tennessee holds its annual Safety and Leadership Conference in Tupelo, Mississippi.

APAC Mississippi/Tennessee recently held its annual Safety and Leadership Conference at the Cadence Bank Conference Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. The 2024 event took place February 6-8 and brought together leaders from across the company for business meetings, small group discussions, performance recaps, employee recognition ceremonies and more.

A highlight of day two was a talk by special guest Ricky Rollins, a motivational speaker and workplace safety advocate who shared his personal story of a coworker surviving a near-fatal head trauma in 1995. Ricky’s powerful message underscored the importance of safety and emphasized the active role each team member must play to help ensure that all of us go home safely to our families at the end of every shift.

The Safety and Leadership Conference’s small group break-out sessions covered a variety of safety topics. Gavin McGee and Sarah Brooks led a small group discussion around incident reporting, Briana Wilson covered risk assessment, and Juston Hebert addressed subcontractor safety issues. Kirk Lassaline and Connie Collard from IT led a group discussion on cyber security, followed by a breakout session on environmental safety led by Brian Moore and Colin Agostinelli. Team members who led additional breakout sessions included Bobby Bogue, David Farrish, Matt Smith, Terry May, Paul Lanford, Auston Thompson, Carl Pittman, James Williams, Brain Ross and Sharon Zillinger.

At APAC-Mississippi/Tennessee, we are uncompromising in our commitment to safety as we strive to protect our most valuable assets, our employees. An important part of cultivating a strong employee-driven safety culture is learning from each other and getting all team members directly involved in the safety process each and every day. The 2024 Safety and Leadership Conference was filled with valuable information that we can all bring back to our crews and apply to our work. Let’s build on that inspiration and momentum as we continue to prioritize safety in everything we do.
